Reporting Relationships:
The Student Finance Officer is accountable to a Director of Student Financial Services.
Responsibilities:

The employee will leverage his/her experience in financial communication to ensure students needing financial aid discover the best way invest in their future. The Student Finance Officer will truly impact students lives as they continue to ensure that students are able to financially maintain status in one of Rasmussen’s industry-leading, practical and accredited Bachelor’s degree programs including: the School of Nursing, the School of Justice Studies, the School of Technology & Design, the School of Health Sciences, the School of Business, and the School of Education.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Implement financial aid policies as directed, ensuring compliance to state and federal regulations, audit requirements and the College’s policies
* Assist prospective and current students in completing financial aid applications; track and collect all necessary information/paperwork
* Determine eligibility and tracks financial awards
* Advise and counsel students on financial aid options and maintain contact with students throughout the application process
* Track all student financial packages and prepares requested tracking reports accurately and on time
* Conduct entrance and exit counseling interviews, advising student of repayment schedule calculations
* Ensure loan recipients receive appropriate default management letters
* Work effectively with other campus and college admissions personnel
* Maintain accurate knowledge of the College’s products, services; remain current in field through professional development such as: workshops, conferences, and/or course work
* Ensure accurate and effective representation of the College and follow-through with prospective students, enrolled students, business community and high school officials
* Embody the spirit of the College’s mission and vision in daily activities
* Support the team effort for campus and College effectiveness
* Participate in departmental, campus, College and in-service meetings and develop collaborative relationships with College employees and management
* Provide constructive input to assist the College in decision-making and growth, and implement and support policy and procedural changes
* Maintain a professional image, attitude and work area
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related discipline
* Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to maintain records and files with precision and accuracy
* Excellent organization and time management skills are necessary
* Ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision
* High level of professional and telephone etiquette
* Excellent customer relations skills a must
* Excellent aptitude for math
* Minimum of one to three years of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably within a financial aid, finance counseling or loan processing environment
* General knowledge of the higher education industry preferred, but not required
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
* Working knowledge of financial software preferred
* Good command of the English language, in both oral and written form, with a professional appearance and telephone manner
